Sergeant Major Andrew Carigiet is a native of Saint Paul, Minnesota and joined the Marine Corps in September of 1999. He currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, Fort Devens Massachusetts.
Following Recruit training at MCRD San Diego, Sergeant Major Carigiet completed Marine Combat Training and Military Police School at Fort Leonardwood, MO. he was assigned to Military Police Company, Headquarters Battalion, 4th Marine Division.
In January of 2003, Sergeant Major Carigiet deployed to Kuwait/Iraq with Military Police Company, 1st Marine Division for the invasion of Iraq where his team conducted route reconnaissance and tactical control points for the Division maneuver into Baghdad. Following retrograde, He was re-deployed in January 2004 to Ar Ramadi Iraq with the 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines where his Company conducted Support and Stability Operations, MSR security, EPW handling/Detention Operations, and instruction at Iraqi Police Academy.
In 2009, Sergeant Major Carigiet attended the US Army Foreign Weapon Course at Fort Bragg NC prior to deployment to Uganda Africa where he instructed Machine Gunnery, Riot Control, and Non-lethal tactics and munitions to the Militaries of Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, and Rwanda.
In October 2010, Sergeant Major Carigiet deployed with the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marines to Afghanistan. Assigned to a forward base in the southeast, he and the Marines of 1/23 were embedded with civilian contractors from both DOD and Dept of State where he worked as a Training Chief at Afghan Border Patrol Kandak on the Pakistan border. The NTMA team were responsible for training 600 Afghan Border Patrol Officers in police tactics, firearms, and border patrol operation. Sergeant Major Carigiet completed his Afghan deployment in January of 2012 returning stateside.
Sergeant Major Carigiet participated in African Lion in Morocco in February and March of 2016, cross training with the Spain, Dutch, and Moroccan Military's in Police and Infantry Tactics.
Sergeant Major Carigiet was promoted to First Sergeant in April of 2018 and was assigned to H&S Company 1st Battalion, 24th Marines. In December 2018, he was re-assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. In June of 2019 he deployed to Camp Schwab, and Okinawa and Camp Fuji, Japan. He completed the Unit Deployment Program in July of 2020. In May of 2022 he was assigned as Company First Sergeant, Company G, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Madison Wisconsin.
In May of 2023, Sergeant Major Carigiet was promoted to his current rank and was assigned as the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor to 1st Battalion, 25th Marines. Sergeant Major Carigiet's personal awards include a Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and Combat Action Ribbon. Sergeant Major Carigiet works full time as a Police Officer and Bomb technician. During his off time he and his family have interests in Cycling, Lacrosse and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
