First Sergeant Duane W. Brown
Inspector-Instructor First Sergeant
6th Air Naval Gunfire Liason Company

First Sergeant Brown enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2001 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island South Carolina. Upon graduation, First Sergeant Brown attended Marine Combat Training, shortly afterwards he attended his Military Occupational School as a Basic Warehouseman in Camp Johnson, North Carolina and attained the MOS of 3051. In February of 2002, First Sergeant Brown reported to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd FSSG in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for assignment as a warehouse clerk. During this period First Sergeant Brown deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. During this deployment he received a combat meritorious promotion to the rank of Corporal. In March of 2005, First Sergeant Brown was assigned to Combat Service Support Group 3 (CSSG-3) in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii as the Training Noncommissioned Officer. In September of 2006, First Sergeant Brown was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and requested orders to Drill Instructor School. In October of 2007, First Sergeant Brown reported to Drill Instructor School at MCRD Parris Island South, Carolina, Upon completion of Drill Instructor school First Sergeant Brown was assigned to Company H and Receiving Company, where he held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor of Recruit Separation Platoon, and Medical Liaison Drill Instructor. In January of 2011, First Sergeant Brown was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion-1 (CLB-1), Camp Pendleton, California as the Battalion Warehouse Chief. In September of 2011, Fist Sergeant Brown was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and shortly afterwards deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.1 and 12.2 in the Southern Helmand Province. In April of 2012, and the return of deployment, First Sergeant Brown assumed the duties as Company Gunnery Sergeant for (CLB-1) Headquarters and Service Company. In June of 2013, First Sergeant Brown was assigned to Combat Logistic Regiment-15 (CLR-15), 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California as the Bulk Storage SNCOIC. In April of 2014, First Sergeant Brown deployed to Afghanistan Southern Helmand Province with (CLR-15) Retrograde Team-5, as the Ground Combat Element Chief. In this billet he was responsible for retrieving all Marine Corps assets from various Forward Operating Bases and prepping for departure of theatre. In addition to this deployment he also held the billet as the Company Gunnery Sergeant. In August of 2015, First Sergeant Brown reported to MCRD San Diego, California with Headquarters and Service Battalion, Recruit Clothing Section, were he assumed the billets as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and Depot Clothing Chief for Recruit Clothing. In September of 2016, First Sergeant Brown was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. In August of 2018, First Sergeant Brown reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1, Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Squadron Ground Side Warehouse Chief. In addition to this duty, First Sergeant Brown would also assume the duties of Squadron Gunnery Sergeant, and Uniformed Readiness Coordinator. In March of 2020, First Sergeant Brown was promoted to his current rank and was immediately assigned to report to Camp Courtney, 3D MAR DIV for duty with Headquarters Company to serve as the Company First Sergeant. In addition to this assignment in August of 2020, First Sergeant Brown was assigned to Communication Company, as the Company First Sergeant. In June of 2021, First Sergeant Brown was assigned to his current billet as Instructor-Inspector First Sergeant for 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington. First Sergeant Brown's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a silver star in lieu of sixth award, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service medal.
