U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Sean Day, mobilization assistant to Deputy Commander of USSPACECOM with Senior Leader Management Branch, addresses family members of Montford Point Marines at the Federal City Auditorium in New Orleans, Nov. 13, 2023. The Montford Point Marines were posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for their service during World War II. Lance Cpl. Nicholas R. Smarr, a Reserve Marine, was killed in the line of duty when responding to a domestic disturbance call in Americus, Ga. on Dec. 7, 2016, while serving as a police officer for the Americus Police Department. Janice Smarr, the mother of Lance Cpl. Nicholas Smarr, accepts the Navy and Marine Corps Medal on behalf of her son at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Ga., Dec. 7, 2018. Marine Forces Reserve Career Planner of the year

Staff Sgt. Wyanika Christophe of 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, 4th Marine Division was recognized as Reserve career planner of the year during the Commandant of Marine Corps Combined Awards Ceremony 2014 at Quantico, Virginia, Jan. 29, 2015. Christophe and many other career planners have worked diligently to improve and help Marines with the Billet Identification Code system and to assist Marines with making career decisions.
