The purpose of the FY 18 AR Alignment Plan is to maintain and promote the appropriate amount of AR Marines for the next fiscal year and balance the AR enlisted career force inventory while retaining quality Marines.

All commands are required to conduct interviews with AR Marines and record them within the Total Force Retention System no later than October 1, 2017. The initial interview, helps ensure the Marine Corps retains the best and most capable Marines and must be conducted between 10 and 14 months prior to a Marine’s expiration of active service before becoming an AR Marine.

AR Marines with the ranks of staff sergeant to master gunnery sergeant must submit their reenlistment no later than December 31, 2017.

Staff non-commissioned officers that are eligible for retirement but do not submit a request for reenlistment before the deadline will be denied further service and will EAS in lieu of retirement.

Commanders are able to extend and adjust the EAS of the eligible AR Marines up until March 31, 2018 as long as their EAS is between October 1, 2017 and February 28, 2018.

All requests must be submitted no later than February 28, 2018.  The target reenlistment numbers will be published and announced by each MOS correspondence.
