U.S. Naval Academy and Naval Academy Preparatory School admission requirements

29 Nov 2017 | Pfc. Samantha Schwoch U.S. Marine Corps Forces Reserve

Marine Administrative Message 631/17 explains the admission requirements for all active duty and Reserve Marines wanting to apply for the U.S. Naval Academy’s class of 2022, in Annapolis, Maryland.

The USNA is seeking top performing, energetic active duty and Reserve Marines who have exhibited strong leadership or leadership potential.

In addition, the Naval Preparatory School may identify and obtain students from within USNA applications. An admissions board for NAPS identifies applicants who could benefit from an additional year of study. Applicants must state their willingness to attend NAPS within their USNA applications.

To be eligible, Marines must be no older than 22, before July 1, 2017, and must not be married, pregnant or have any children. Applicants must also have a Scholastic Aptitude Test reasoning score within the last two years, have no record of disciplinary action in the last three years and be in outstanding physical fitness.

Reserve Marines must have two remaining years on contract. If that requirement is not met, they must re-enlist for enough time to meet requirements.

The application and recommendation completion deadline is Jan. 31, 2018.
