HAWTHORNE ARMY DEPOT, Nev. -- Rear Adm. Bruce A. Doll, a U.S. Navy Reserve leader in military medicine, visited Reserve Marines and sailors here June 14 during their annual summer training at exercise Javelin Thrust 2009.
In his civilian career, Doll works as an Oral surgeon and dentist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. In the Navy Reserve, Doll is dual-hatted as deputy commander, Navy Medicine East and deputy chief, Navy Dental Corps.
More than 2,600 Marines and Sailors are participating in exercise Javelin Thrust here June 6- 20. The exercise is taking place at six military installations in California, Texas and Nevada to prepare reservists for deployment in support of overseas contingency operations, especially those in the US Central Command’s area of responsibility.
