Active Reserve program officer new applicant accession board

Marine administrative message 417/14 announces guidance on the qualifications and application process of the fiscal year 2015 Active Reserve Officer Accession Board. The board will convene at Headquarters Marine Corps Oct. 20, 2014.

Qualified Marine officers can now submit applications to HQMC requesting accession into the AR program. Marine officers accepted into the AR program will fill a variety of ground, aviation and logistics billets located at Reserve training centers and major Marine Corps commands and installations world-wide.

Eligibility requirements

First lieutenants with any primary military occupational specialty and captains not previously passed for promotion in the Reserve component are eligible to apply. Majors with a date of rank of Sept. 1, 2012, or later are also eligible to apply. Applicants selected to access into the AR program who do not possess a PMOS compatible with the AR program must be willing to retrain into a competitive PMOS.

All officers selected by this board will access into the AR program by May 1, 2015. All applicants must hold a current Reserve commission or agree to accept a Reserve commission prior to serving in the AR program. The initial service obligation in the AR program is 36 months, commencing from the effective date ordered to active duty with the AR program.

Application process

All applications and supporting documents must be received by HQMC no later than Oct. 9, 2014. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Applicants currently serving on active duty, or who are serving with the Selected Marine Corps Reserve or as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee, must submit an endorsement from their battalion/squadron level commander.

It is imperative that each RC officer review his or her career retirement credit report and ensure it is accurate, complete and certified within the previous 12 months.

Officers selected for accession into the AR program will be notified via MARADMIN and separate correspondence.
