NEW ORLEANS -- Marine Administrative Message 065/15 clarifies the rules governing flat-rate per diem for certain periods of temporary additional duty.
The new per diem rates will be as follows; 30 days or less TAD will rate 100% lodging and food expenses reimbursement, 31 to 90 days will rate 75% and 91 to 180 days will rate 55% lodging and food expenses reimbursement.
The new flat-rate per diem is now effective for all periods of TAD longer than 30 days at one location.
Any modification to an original TAD plan that may result in an extension for more than 30 days will qualify for the new flat-rate per diem. For example, if a Marine is TAD from April 1-20, but a modification to the TAD orders is made on April 15, extending the TAD until May 20. The new flat-rate per diem would then apply for April 16 through May 20 only. The total number of days for TAD also includes the travel days.
The new flat rate per diem is applicable to the entire force.
