Weapon Conditions for Personnel Performing Law Enforcement and Security Details

Marine administrative message 323/16 reestablishes weapons conditions for active duty, Reserve and civilian Marine Corps personnel performing law enforcement and security duties June 22, 2016.

The new conditions are as follows:

A1. M9 service pistol shall be carried condition one with a minimum of one  
       additional fully loaded magazine.
A2. Condition One - Fully loaded magazine inserted, round in chamber, slide
       forward, hammer down, and safety on.

B1. Close quarters Battle Pistol (.45 Caliber) shall be carried in condition one with
       a minimum one additional fully loaded magazine.
B2. Condition One - Fully loaded magazine inserted, round in chamber, slide
       forward, hammer cocked, and safety on.

C1. M16A2/M16A4/M4 Rifle shall be carried in condition three with a minimum
       of one additional fully loaded magazine.
C2. Condition Three - Fully loaded magazine inserted, empty chamber, bolt
       forward, safety on, and ejection port cover closed.

D1. Shotguns shall be carried condition three with at least five additional rounds.
D2. Condition Three - fully loaded magazine tube, empty chamber, bolt forward,
       safety on.

Additionally, when armed with firearms that are not routinely carried in CONDITION ONE, rounds will not be chambered unless the immediate threat makes it reasonable and prudent to believe that the use of deadly force may be necessary.
