Age 31, Sherwood, Oregon Capt. Contreras was killed while conducting combat operations near Jalibah Air Base, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 169, Marine Air Group 39, 3d Marine Air Wing, Camp Pendleton, California. He died on April 1, 2003.
