Innovative Readiness Training - Louisiana Care

ABOUT

On July 10-24, 2017, the Louisiana Care IRT contingent comprised of National Guard and Reserve assets of the U.S. Armed Forces will deploy to the medically underserved communities of Louisiana to conduct deployment and readiness training for military personnel. Incidental to military readiness training, the Louisiana Care IRT team will provide medical, dental and optometry care to assist local health and municipal authorities in addressing underserved and unmet community health and civic needs. Units will also conduct critical mission training and logistical movement in order to simulate military/civilian humanitarian operations and health care delivery in the time of crisis, conflict or disaster.

JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Lt.Gen. Steven Hummer, Commander, Marine Forces Reserve addresses Marines from Marine Aircraft Group 49, Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 773 and Heavy Marine Helicopter Squadron 772, during a visit to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. During the visit, Hummer talked with Marines about a range of issues, from the ongoing fight in Afghanistan to changes in Marine Corps structure and pay and benefits issues for active and reserve Marines. He emphasized the importance of the Reserve in the total force, stating, “Every commander out there will tell you that they could not do what they do without the Reserve.” The Marine units at JB MDL recently relocated to the all-services base from sites in Pennsylvania.
