Captain Patrick R. Shaw
Inspector-Instructor
Detachment 2

Capt Shaw assumed duties as Inspector Instructor, Detachment 2, Headquarters Company, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion on 23 July 2020. A native of Grove City, PA, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in 2015.

Upon completion of the Military Police Officer Basic Course, Capt Shaw reported to Security and Emergency Services Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA. From May 2016 to October 2018, he served as a Watch Commander, leading a blended force of Marines and civilian Department of Defense Police Officers; maintaining the good order, discipline, and security aboard Camp Pendleton, and responding to various calls for service, including traffic and domestic incidents, medical incidents, and various environmental hazards.

Following this tour, Capt Shaw reported to 2d Recruit Training Battalion, Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA. From October 2018 to July 2020 he served as the Follow Series Commander, Company H and Company Commander, Company G; leading, coaching, and mentoring his Series Commanders and Drill Instructors, and ensuring the efficient transformation of hundreds of civilians in to United States Marines.

Capt Shaw earned a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and his personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
