Arctic Edge 25 is a Joint Chiefs of Staff designated joint and combined field training exercise oriented on homeland defense in the Alaska/Arctic region. This exercise provides an opportunity to highlight cross command coordination in the Alaskan theater of operations for homeland defense.

Marine Corps Reserve Maj. Timothy Murphy (second from left), the intelligence officer for 2nd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, interviews Iraqi Lt. Col. Ahmed of the National Information Investigation Agency here Dec. 31, 2008. Murphy joined the Marine Corps as an infantryman in 1986 and later earned a commission. He affiliated with the Marine Corps Reserve in 2003. Maj. Craig Abele (right), served with Murphy as the battalion’s intelligence officer. Abele, who has spent the past seven of his 16 years in the Corps as a reservist, is currently attending Marine Corps Command and Staff College full-time in Quantico, Va. He is scheduled to graduate in June with a master’s degree in military science.
