Sergeant Major Esteban Rodriguez
Inspector-Instructor Command Senior Enlisted Leader
2d Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment

Sergeant Major Rodriguez enlisted in the Marine Corps on 14 October 14 2001 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California.

In February 2002, he reported to the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of infantry school and designation as a 0351 assaultman, he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During his tour he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2005, he reported to Military Police Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this tour, he was assigned to the Base Vehicle Registration Office as the visitor center noncommissioned officer in charge.

In March 2006, he graduated from the Career Planner's Course in San Diego, California, then assumed the duties of the career planner for Marine Air Control Squadron 2 in Cherry Point, North Carolina.

In April 2007, he reported to and assumed the duties as the career planner for 2d Marine Special Operations Battalion and Marine Special Operations School, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While in this capacity, he stood up the career planning program from the ground up for both commands, resulting in his nomination for Career Planner of the Year.

In January 2010, Sergeant Major Rodriguez transferred to 2d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, where he completely revamped the career planning program resulting in his selection as the Marine Corps Career Planner of the Year for 2010. Additionally, during this tour he deployed to Afghanistan as the career planner and personal security detachment staff noncommissioned officer in charge (SNCOIC).

Upon returning from Afghanistan, Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Air Wing, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. During his tour he served as the career planner SNCOIC and company gunnery sergeant.

In January 2014, he received orders to 3d Reconnaissance Battalion. During his tour he served as the first sergeant for Alpha Company and Force Reconnaissance Company.

In February 2017, he transferred to Combat Logistics Battalion 1 to serve as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. While with CLB-1, he was hand selected to serve as the senior enlisted leader for the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC) 19.1 Logistics Combat Element (LCE) at Al Jaber Air Base, Kuwait.

In July 2019, Sergeant Major Rodriguez reported to Recruiting Station San Francisco, California, 12th Marine Corps District for duty as Recruiting Station Sergeant Major.

In July 2022, he transferred to 2nd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment where he currently serves as the Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Rodriguez holds a Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management from Campbell University. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon with one gold star.
