Lieutenant Colonel Jamie L. Wagner is a Marine Corps Combat Engineer.  LtCol Wagner was commissioned in 1998 after graduating from the United States Naval Academy.  He assumed command of Inspector Instructor Staff, 4th Combat Engineer Battalion on July 21, 2017.

LtCol Wagner’s Operating Forces tours include 8th Engineer Support Battalion (2000 – 2004) where he served as a Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander; 4th Combat Engineer Battalion (2004 – 2007) where he served as a Company Inspector-Instructor; and 2d Combat Engineer Battalion (2010 – 2013) where he served as the Operations Officer and Remain Behind Element Officer-in-Charge.  His Supporting Establishment tours include the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (2008-2010) where he served as the C-IED Detection Lead; the Marine Corps Engineer School (2013-2015) where he served as the C-IED Branch Head; and the Capability Development Directorate (2015-2017) where he served as the C-IED Branch Head.

LtCol Wagner’s combat deployments include two deployments to Iraq in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM and two deployments to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.  During OIF in 2003, he deployed as the Engineer Support Detachment Commander, Combat Service Support Battalion 22 in direct support of Task Force Tarawa.  In 2004, he deployed as Bridge Company Commander, 8th ESB in direct support of Multi-National Corps Iraq.  During OEF in 2009, he deployed as the Force Protection Engineer, Joint Security Office (Forward), United States Central Command.  In 2011, he deployed as the C-IED Deputy Director, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) / Regional Command (Southwest).  Additionally, in 2003 LtCol Wagner deployed within the United States as Executive Officer, Company B, 8th ESB in direct support of Joint Task Force 6 counterdrug operations.

LtCol Wagner’s personal awards include the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device, Meritorious Service Medals with three Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
