Lieutenant Colonel Patrick W. Junick
Inspector-Instructor
4th Combat Engineer Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Junick is a native of Albuquerque, NM. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Development from Texas A&M University in 2004 and his Masters in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He graduate from Recruit Training in 2000 and was commissioned through the Platoon Leaders Course (PLC) in 2004. 

After graduation from Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) he checked into Alpha Company, 1st Battalion 23d Marines, in Houston, TX where he served as a Reservist while attending Texas A&M University. Upon graduation from Texas A&M he was commissioned and assigned to the Basic School in Quantico, VA. 

After the Basic School and Engineer Officers Course he checked to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) and served as the Assistant Operations Officer, 1st Platoon Commander Charlie Company, Engineer Support Company (ESC) Executive Officer (XO) and (ESC) Commanding Officer (CO). As Platoon Commander he deployed to Fallujah, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. 
In 2008, he reported to Kilo Company, 3d Recruit Training Battalion, MCRD Parris Island, SC. Captain Junick took over as the XO for Recruit Processing Company. In early 2009 Captain Junick moved to Special Training Company as the XO and then he took over as the CO. In 2010, Captain Junick reported to Headquarters and Services Battalion (H&S Bn) MCRD Parris Island and served as both the Bn Logistics Officer and the Supply Officer. In 2011 Captain Junick was selected to attend Army Engineer Captain's Career Course, Fort Leonard Wood, MO and upon graduation he received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 (MWSS-171) Iwakuni, Japan. Captain Junick served as Engineer Company XO and within three months he assumed command of the company. Simultaneous with his assumption of command, Captain Junick was sent to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma for Weapons and Tactics Instructor course; earning the additional MOS of 7077. While in command of Engineer Company, he went to the island of Tinian, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands as part of training exercises GEIGER FURY and FORGER FURY II. He supervised the clearing of historic North Field. This historic airfield is where both atomic bomb missions during WWII originated from; during both exercises his Marines cleared over 200 acres of jungle from the four historic runways and all the supporting taxiways. They also created a tactical landing surface for KC-130 and MV-22 aircraft. In 2014 Captain Junick received orders to Joint Task Force North (JTF-N), US Northern Command, Fort Bliss TX. 

At JTF-N Major Junick served in the Plans and Policy Directorate, J-5. While in the J-5 he attended Joint Forces Staff College and received the MOS 9702. He then reported to Joint Task Force West, a Department of Homeland Security task force tasked with protecting the US Southwestern border and approaches as a Liaison Officer (LNO) from JTF-N. After his time as an LNO Major Junick moved into the Future Operations, J-35. 

In 2017 Major Junick received orders to Marine Wing Support Detachment 273 (MWSD-273), at the time Marine Wing Support Detachment 31, aboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina. From December 2019 through April 2020, he took MWSD-273, the Detachment’s only combat deployment, to Bahrain as part of Operations SPARTAN SHIELD and INHERENT RESOLVE in support of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251 (VMFA-251). Major Junick received orders to Marine Corps Installations Pacific (MCIPAC) Okinawa Japan and turned MWSD-273 over in June 2020.
