Lieutenant Colonel Pernice is a native of Kansas City, MO. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri in 2009. He was commissioned in the Marine Corps via the Platoon Leaders Course completing OCS juniors in the summer of 2007 and OCS seniors in the summer of 2008. 

Lieutenant Colonel Pernice graduated from The Basic School in 2010 and was designated a Logistics Officer after completing Logistics Officer Course in 2011. He reported to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines and assumed responsibilities as the unit’s Embarkation Officer. He deployed in this role as part of Battalion Landing Team 2/7, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.  Upon returning from this deployment, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice was assigned as the Assistant Logistics Officer and Maintenance Management Officer for the Battalion. He deployed in this billet to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12.2. 

In the summer of 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice received orders to 3rd Civil Affairs Group in Great Lakes, IL. He served as the Assistant Inspector-Instructor during the initial formation of this new command. In the fall of 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice direct affiliated to the reserve component and transitioned to Combat Logistics Regiment 4 in Kansas City, MO. 

While with CLR-4, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice served in the S3 as the Current Operations Officer and participated in Exercise African Lion 2016 as the Regimental Operations Officer. He then assumed command of Headquarters Company, CLR-4. His company command tour was highlighted by an eight-month activation where he concurrently served as the lead exercise planner for Saber Strike 2018 which consisted of an MPF offload and multi-lateral training with multiple Baltic countries. 

In 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice transferred to 4th MLG G3 to serve as an Operational Logistics Officer within the Service Component Operational Logistics Augmentation Cell (SCOLAC). In this role, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice led projects which began the integration of 4th MLG into the MARFORPAC G4 staff in support of USPACOM logistics planning. 

In March of 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice transferred to MWSS-473, MAG-41 and served as the Squadron Executive Officer. 

After being selected for command, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice transferred to Red Bank, New Jersey in 2026 where he currently serves as the Battalion Commander of Combat Logistics Battalion-25. 

Lieutenant Colonel Pernice has completed both Expeditionary Warfare School and Command and Staff College by way of the weekend seminar distance education program. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. 

In his civilian career, Lieutenant Colonel Pernice is a Risk Management and Insurance Professional. Specializing in commercial property and casualty insurance. He leads a department with an emphasis on business processes, sales, and client relations.
