Lieutenant Colonel Mychal A. Creeden graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was commissioned into the United States Marine Corps in 2009 through the Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program.
Upon completing The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course, Lieutenant Colonel Creeden reported to 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He served as a Platoon Commander for Company B, deploying in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in 2011, and subsequently assumed command of Company C. In 2013, he was assigned to the School of Infantry–West, where he served as Executive Officer Light Armored Vehicle Training Company, and Officer in Charge of the Leaders Course, Vehicle Commanders Course, Master Gunners Course, and Crewman Course.
Following his graduation from the Expeditionary Warfare School in 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Creeden reported to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. He commanded Company B during a Unit Deployment Program deployment to Okinawa, Japan, and subsequently assumed command of Headquarters and Service Company.
In 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Creeden graduated from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and was assigned to Headquarters, Marine Corps, Plans, Policies, and Operations (PP&O). There, he served as the Deputy Infantry Advocate prior to his selection as the Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commandant for PP&O.
In 2022, he reported to 1st Marine Regiment to serve as the Future Operations Officer, deploying to Australia as part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force Command Element for Marine Rotational Force – Darwin. He was subsequently assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, serving as both the Operations Officer and Executive Officer. Most recently, Lieutenant Colonel Creeden served with the Tactical Training Exercise and Control Group, first as the Maneuver Section Officer in Charge and ultimately as the Operations Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Creeden holds a Master of Science in Leadership Studies from Marshall University. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
