Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy M. Dittmer

Lieutenant Colonel Jeremy M. Dittmer is a native of Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in History and was commissioned in May 2009 through the Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps. After completing The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course, 2ndLt Dittmer reported to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan. 

2ndLt Dittmer deployed as the Platoon Commander, 3rd Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines to Garmsir District, Helmand Province from April to November 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in May 2011 during the deployment. Upon return, 1stLt Dittmer was assigned as the Assistant Operations Officer, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, during the unit's workup for a Unit Deployment Program rotation. 

1stLt Dittmer subsequently served as Operations Officer at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa, Japan, from October 2012 to May 2013. He returned to Hawaii and transitioned from active duty to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve, having been promoted to Captain during his final month of active service. 

Capt Dittmer was affiliated with Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines, and served as Company Executive Officer before assuming duties as Acting Commanding Officer for approximately one year following the incapacitation of the Company Commander. In 2016, Capt Dittmer was assigned as a Team Leader on the Security Cooperation Team Jordan, where he served as the lead advisor to the Quick Reaction Force Battalion of the Jordan Armed Forces until 2017. 

Upon return from Jordan, Capt Dittmer assumed command of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines. 

Capt Dittmer was promoted to Major in October 2019 and concurrently assumed duties as Battalion Operations Officer, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Marines, a position he held for nearly three years. Major Dittmer subsequently mobilized in support of the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) as Operational Sponsor for the Marine Detachment. He transferred to the Joint Planning Support Element (JPSE) in late 2022, where he served as a Joint Operational Planner and Marine Detachment Operations Officer, supporting planning efforts across multiple Combatant Commands spanning the conflict spectrum. Major Dittmer was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in February 2026 and assumed command of 1st Battalion, 24th Marines. 

Lieutenant Colonel Dittmer is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College Distance Education Program, a graduate of the Joint and Combined Warfighting School Hybrid Program, and a graduate of the Air War College Distance Education Program. He holds a Bachelor of Science in History from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Regis University, and is a doctoral candidate in Organizational Leadership at National University. His personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal twice awarded, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
