A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Major Haynes graduated from United States Naval Academy and was commissioned in 2016.
 
Upon graduation from The Basic School and the Infantry Officers Course, Major Haynes reported to 3d Battalion, 1st Marines in 2017. He was assigned as a Rifle Platoon Commander and deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2018. Following his return from deployment, he served as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Commander and later as the Assistant Operations Officer for the Battalion rotation under Joint Task Force - Southern Border.
 
From June 2020 to September 2022, Major Haynes attended the Naval Postgraduate School and was assigned a utilization tour at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) in October 2022. He served in the Marine Corps' Cyber Assessment Team and later as the Assistant Operations Officer. 
 
Following his tour at MCTSSA in May 2024, Major Haynes reported to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines and took command of Alpha Company. During his tenure he independently deployed for training as a company to Indonesia for Super Garuda Shield 2024 and later began the workup for a 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit deployment. 
 
After his selection to Major, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 24th Marines and took command as the Inspector-Instructor for Bravo Company in July 2025. 
 
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Science.
 
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with one gold star) and the Navy and the Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
