Lieutenant Colonel Kevin L. Wilson enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in 2004. Upon completing recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, Marine Combat Training, and Military Police School, he reported to Military Police Company A, 4th Marine Logistics Group, in Lexington, Kentucky.
In 2008, he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant following graduation from Morehead State University. After completing The Basic School and the Basic Communications Officer Course, he reported to Communications Company, 2d Marine Division, where he served as the Data Systems Platoon Commander.
In 2010, First Lieutenant Wilson was assigned to 2d Combat Engineer Battalion as the Communications Officer and Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer. He deployed to Regional Command–Southwest, Afghanistan, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in 2011, where he additionally served as the Information Management Officer and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Officer.
Captain Wilson transitioned from active duty in 2012 to attend law school. After graduating from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law and becoming licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2015, he reaffiliated with the Selected Marine Corps Reserve as an Individual Mobilization Augmentee. He subsequently served as the Marine For Life Representative for Kentucky before assuming command of Communications Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 45, where he led the company through numerous CONUS and OCONUS training exercises and its first Deployable Joint Command and Control mission in support of Task Force 51/5. In 2019, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisville and completed the MAGTF Communications Officer Course, earning the 0603 Communications Officer military occupational specialty.
In 2020, Major Wilson joined the staff of 4th Marine Logistics Group as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff G-6 before later serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff G-6. During this assignment, he planned command and control architectures supporting Marine Forces Reserve operations and exercises. Following completion of the Advanced Information Operations Officer Course in 2021, he earned the 0550 Information Operations Officer military occupational specialty.
In 2023, Major Wilson reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48 as the Future Operations Officer before serving as the Squadron Operations Officer. In that capacity, he led the planning and execution of communications support for the squadron's most operationally demanding training cycle, directing more than two dozen training exercises and operational deployments spanning the Indo-Pacific, European, Central, Northern, Southern, and African Combatant Commands. During this period, he supported NATO, joint, and Marine Air-Ground Task Force operations worldwide, culminating in the squadron achieving its highest readiness rating in more than a decade. Selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel in 2024, he subsequently assumed command of Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48.
In his civilian career, Lieutenant Colonel Wilson is an attorney licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and admitted to practice before multiple United States District Courts. His legal practice is devoted to representing service members in federal employment litigation involving employment discrimination and reemployment rights. He also provides pro bono legal representation to veterans and has served on the Kentucky Bar Association Military Law Committee since 2020.
Lieutenant Colonel Wilson is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff College, the MAGTF Communications Officer Course, and the Advanced Information Operations Officer Course. His personal decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
