Lieutenant Colonel Lundgren is a native of Livingston, Montana. He graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. He attended Officer Candidate School through the Platoon Leaders Course with Alpha Company in the summer of 2007 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2008.
After graduating from The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, with Delta Company in November 2009, he reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola to begin flight school. He completed Primary Flight Training in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Advanced Flight Training in Kingsville, Texas, earning his designation as a Naval Aviator in July 2012. Following a 15-month tour as a Selectively Retained Graduate (SERGRAD) with VT-21, he reported to VFA-106 for initial F/A-18 training.
In April 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Lundgren joined his first fleet squadron, VMFA(AW)-225, the “Vikings,” in Iwakuni, Japan. He completed three Unit Deployment Program (UDP) deployments with the Vikings, serving in several key billets including Mission Planning, S-6 OIC, Airframes OIC, Quality Assurance Officer, and Pilot Training Officer.
He then reported to VMFA(AW)-533, the “Hawks,” in August 2019. During this tour, he deployed to Japan and served as both the Quality Assurance Officer and the Operations Officer.
In October 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Lundgren transitioned to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve, joining VMFA-112, the “Cowboys,” as the Reserve Operations Officer.
In their free time, the Lundgren family loves serving alongside their church family. In his civilian career, Lieutenant Colonel Lundgren is an MD-11 First Officer with a well-known package delivery and logistics service.
Lieutenant Colonel Lundgren is a graduate of the Marine Division Tactics Course (MDTC, 2018) and the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI, 2020). His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
