CWO3 Mizell is the Commanding Officer of Food Service Company, 4th Combat Readiness Regiment, 4th MLG in Smyrna, Georgia, a northern suburb of Atlanta.
CWO3 Mizell is a native of Columbia, SC, and was raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and Madison, NJ. He graduated from high school at Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham, MA in May 2003 and graduated from college at Elon University in Elon, NC in May 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in English, Professional Writing & Rhetoric.
Recruit Mark S Mizell reported to MCRD San Diego, SC for Recruit Training in July 2009 where he later graduated from Platoon 2116, Echo Company. Upon completion of Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, CA, PFC Mizell completed the Food Service Specialist Course in Fort Lee, VA. He then reported to 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in Chicago, IL where he served as a food service specialist, squad leader and platoon sergeant. PFC Mizell was promoted to Lance Corporal in April 2010, Corporal in October 2011 and Sergeant in January 2013.
In January 2014, Sgt Mizell received orders to deploy with Georgia Training Team 14 in support of Georgia Deployment Program - International Security Assistance Force (GDP-ISAF), where he served as DFAC Manager of Krtsanisi Training Area. Following his deployment, Sgt Mizell received orders to 3d Civil Affairs Group aboard Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois where he was a Civil Affairs Specialist and then Civil Affairs Team Chief until August 2019. Sgt Mizell was promoted to Staff Sergeant in September 2017.
In November 2018, SSgt Mizell was selected as a Warrant Officer in the Marine Corps Reserve and completed the Warrant Officer Basic Course at The Basic School in Quantico, VA, followed by the Senior Food Service Course in Fort Lee, VA. Later, WO Mizell was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 4 as the Food Service Operations Officer. WO Mizell was promoted to CWO2 in August 2020.
In January 2023, CWO2 Mizell was assigned to Food Service Company, CLR 45 as the Executive Officer. He was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 3 in August 2023.
In his civilian career, since 2015 CWO3 Mizell has contributed to the public safety and security sector, developing and applying expertise in complex investigative analysis and specialized operational support, involving assignments at both the municipal and federal levels.
CWO3 Mizell’s personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/ gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal w/ four bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ ‘M’ device and bronze hour glass.
