First Sergeant Justin M. Neu is a native of Dayton, OH and enlisted at the Recruiting Station located in Huber Heights Ohio. Ordered to attend Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, SC on 26 October 1992, to attend recruit training. He was assigned to 1st Bn, Delta Co, Platoon 1000.

Private First Class Neu would execute orders and attend Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, Camp Lejeune, NC in February 1993. Upon Completion of MCT he attended basic aircraft mechanics school in Millington, TN; followed by “C"  school in Cherry Point, NC for instruction on the AV-8B.

In September 1993 Lance Corporal Neu was transferred to VMA-311, Marine Aircraft Wing 13, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma AZ.  In May of 1994 Lance Corporal Neu deployed for 6-months to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan.

Upon returning from deployment, Corporal Neu would participate in CAX in 1995.  In December 1995 he would deploy with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 268 to West Pac and take part in operation Southern Watch. On October 25 1996 Corporal Neu dropped into the Individual Ready Reserve after 4 years of honorable active service.

In January 1997, Justin Neu was hired at the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier where he worked for 21 years until he retired.

After 12 years as a civilian, Corporal Neu reenlisted into the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 2008 and served at Communications Company (Comm Co), Headquarters Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Cincinnati, OH, serving as an electrician. In 2009, Corporal Neu reported to Courthouse Bay, Camp Lejeune for Basic Engineer Electrical Equipment Systems Technician School.

Upon completion of his second MOS school, Corporal Neu returned to Comm Co as the Utilities Chief and was promoted to Sergeant in October of 2010.  In 2014, Staff Sergeant Neu served as Company Gunnery sergeant for Communications Company for 28 months.  In 2016, Staff Sergeant Neu returned to Utilities platoon, Comm Co as the Utilities Chief until 2018.

In October of 2018, Staff Sergeant Neu reported to Engineer Support Company (ESC), 6th Engineer Support Battalion in Battle Creek, MI as a Chief Electrician and as Utilities SNCOIC and was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant the following month. In March of 2021 until May of 2022 Gunnery Sergeant Neu served as acting company First Sergeant for ESC. In May of 2023 Gunnery Sergeant Neu was sent to participate a Joint Engineer Operators Course at Joint Base Lewis McCord in Seattle WA.

In August of 2023 First Sergeant Neu reported to Service Company, 6th Communication Battalion, FHG, Brooklyn NY and served as the company Senior enlisted advisor until March 2026.
 
In April of 2026 First Sergeant Neu was transferred to Headquarters and Service Company (H&S Co), 1st Battalion, 24th Marines (1/24), Selfridge MI, to serve as the H&S Company First Sergeant.

His hobbies include home improvement, woodworking, traveling with family, and fishing with his kids and grandchildren.

First Sergeant Neu's personal awards include Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and Certificate of Commendation.
