Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Mulcahy

Lieutenant Colonel Daniel J. Mulcahy is a native of Houston, TX. He attended Villanova University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in May of 2007. He was commissioned into the Marine Corps through the university's NROTC program. Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy attended The Basic School in July of 2007 and subsequently attended Infantry Officer's Course. 
 
After graduating Infantry Officer's Course in April 2008, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy was assigned to Lima Company, 3d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division to serve as a platoon commander. During this tour, he deployed to Now Zad, Helmand Providence, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). He then deployed to Delaram, Afghanistan, with Regimental Combat Team-2, as the Headquarters Company Executive Officer. At the end of the deployment, he was transferred to Kilo Company, 3d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, to serve as the Weapons Platoon Commander in Sangin, Afghanistan. 
 
In April 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy re-deployed and reported to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He deployed again to OEF with 1st Marine Division (FWD), as the Deputy Counter-IED Officer. Following that deployment, he served as both a Platoon Commander and the Executive Officer of Alpha Company, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. In July 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy reported to Reconnaissance Training Company, School of Infantry-West to serve as the Officer-in-Charge of the Basic Reconnaissance Course.   In 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy reported to 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines, 5th Marine Regiment. In 2016, he deployed to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, as the Weapons Company Commander. 
 
In July 2017, he reported to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, San Antonio, TX to serve as the Charlie Company Inspector-Instructor and subsequently the Operations Officer. 
 
Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy then executed orders to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, CA in July 2020 to serve as the Assistant Operations Officer, 7th Marine Regiment. In March 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy reported to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion to serve as the Executive Officer. Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy was then assigned to the Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group (TTECG) aboard the Combat Center in July 2023. With TTECG, he served as both the Maneuver Section Officer in Charge and Assistant Operations Officer. Additionally, he served as an Advanced Maneuver Coyote, Coyote Corridor, and Event Lead for the MAGTF Distributed Maneuver Exercise (MDMX). 
 
In July 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy reported to Company A, 1st Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment in Brunswick, Maine to serve as the Inspector-Instructor. In July of 2026, he assumed his current billet as the Inspector-Instructor, 25th Marine Regiment aboard Fort Devens, Massachusetts. 
 
Lieutenant Colonel Mulcahy's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
