First Sergeant Randy L. Banks

First Sergeant Randy L. Banks, a native of Rock Island, Illinois, assumed his current post as Company First Sergeant, Littoral Distribution Company A, 6th Distribution Support Battalion, on April 11, 2026. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 2002 and completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.
 
Upon completion of Marine Combat Training, he attended the Motor Vehicle Operator Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and was subsequently assigned to Direct Support Motor Transportation Company Alpha, 6th Motor Transportation Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group in Orlando, Florida.
 
In January 2003, he deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he supported tactical vehicle operations and logistics distribution throughout the area of operations. In June 2007, he deployed again to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, returning in July 2008.
 
In October 2008, he attended and graduated from the Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor Course, earning the designation of Black Belt Instructor. He was promoted to Sergeant in July 2009.
 
In April 2012, he deployed to Agadir, Morocco, as a Platoon Sergeant in support of Exercise African Lion 2012, enhancing multinational interoperability and regional readiness.
 
Promoted to Staff Sergeant in May 2014, he reported to Marine Corps Forces Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, where he served as Administrative Chief, Substance Abuse Control Officer, and Limited Duty Coordinator. In 2016, he assumed the billet of Company Gunnery Sergeant, serving as the principal enlisted advisor to the Company Commander and overseeing administrative and operational readiness.
 
In September 2018, he reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 451, Orlando, Florida, where he served as Headquarters Platoon Sergeant. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in August 2019 and assigned as Company Training Chief. In October 2020, he was appointed Company Gunnery Sergeant, where he was responsible for the training, discipline, and welfare of the company.
 
In May 2023, he assumed the duties of Acting Company First Sergeant, providing senior enlisted leadership and advising the Company Commander on all matters pertaining to morale, welfare, discipline, and readiness. He was frocked to First Sergeant in August 2023 and assigned to Fox Company, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Columbia, South Carolina. While assigned to Fox Company, he supported a rotational deployment to Egypt in support of multinational training operations, where he provided senior enlisted leadership, reinforcing discipline, readiness, and interoperability across the formation.
 
First Sergeant Banks holds an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Remington College and an Accounting Applications Certification from Saint Petersburg College. He is also certified as a Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise.
 
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Certificates of Commendation, and a Certificate of Appreciation.
