Colonel Larson is a field artillery officer with more than 23 years of service across the Total Force. He has commanded at the platoon, company, recruiting station, and battalion levels with 11th Marine Regiment, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Corps District, and 4th Civil Affairs Group, respectively, and has deployed multiple times in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Key staff assignments include tours with 24th Marine Regiment, the School of Infantry-West, Marine Corps Forces, South, and most recently, 4th Marine Division.
A frequent contributor to the Marine Corps Gazette, Colonel Larson has published articles covering tactics and strategy to policy and culture. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Iowa, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School, and a Juris Doctor (Order of the Coif) from
Drake University. Military education includes the Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School.
