LtCol Thesing is a native of Sugar Land, TX.  He graduated from Marquette University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in Criminology and Law Studies.  He was commissioned in May of 2006 from the NROTC program. Upon completion of The Basic School in March of 2007, 2ndLt Thesing reported to Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, FL.  He earned his Wings of Gold in December of 2008 and was designated a Naval Aviator. 

1stLt Thesing selected the CH-46E and was assigned to fleet replacement squadron, HMMT-164 in Camp Pendleton, CA for flight training.  After completion in May of 2009, 1stLt Thesing was designated a CH-46E pilot and reported to HMM-364, the World Famous Purple Foxes. In October 2009, he deployed to Al Asad air base in support of OIF 9.2.  1stLt Thesing served as a schedule writer and current operation officer. 

In February of 2012, his squadron joined the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Air Combat Element. In September of that year, Capt Thesing deployed on the USS PELELIU toward the Western Pacific and continued toward the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, and North Arabian Gulf.  During this deployment, Capt Thesing served as the Airframes Division officer, Standardization pilot, and Maritime Raid Force aviation subject matter expert. 

Capt Thesing was selected for transition to the MV-22 Osprey.  In June of 2013, he reported to the MAG-16 Transition Training Unit at MCAS Miramar, CA.  In August 2013, he reported to VMMT-204 in New River, NC for Osprey flight training.  Upon completion in October 2013, Capt Thesing returned to Miramar, CA and reported to VMM-161, The Greyhawks.  Capt Thesing served as the current operation officer, logistics officer, and assistant operations officer.  In September of 2014, VMM-161 joined the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Air Combat Element.  In May of 2015 Capt Thesing deployed on the USS ESSEX to the North Arabian Sea and North Arabian Gulf.  There he supported Operation Inherent Resolve. 

In May of 2016 Maj Thesing reported to NROTC Unit, The Ohio State University as the Marine Officer Instructor and an Assistant Professor of Naval Science.  From May to July 2017, Maj Thesing was assigned to Officer Candidates School for duties as Commanding Officer, Lima Company. In May of 2019, he graduated from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business with Masters of Business Administration degree. 

In November of 2019, Maj Thesing joined VMM-774, The Wild Goose, through the Direct Affiliation Program. Maj Thesing served as a current operation officer and Aviation Maintenance Officer, and Executive Officer. In February of 2023, he was promoted to LtCol.  

LtCol Thesing’s personal awards include the Air Medal numeral 2, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award.
