Lieutenant Colonel Williams' first assignment was to Battery F, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines at Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Commander for the M777A2 and subsequently as Platoon Commander for the Expeditionary Fire Support System 120mm mortar. During this tour, he deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from December 2012 to May 2013, participating in Exercise Cobra Gold 13. He was later promoted to Captain and selected to command Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines from June to November 2014.

In November 2014, Lieutenant Colonel Williams transferred to the Marine Detachment at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he served as Gunnery Instructor, Deputy Branch Chief in the Gunnery Department, and Marine Detachment Operations Officer. He was inducted into the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara in February 2017 in recognition of his contributions to the field artillery. He subsequently attended Expeditionary Warfare School, graduating in May 2018.

Upon completion of Expeditionary Warfare School, Lieutenant Colonel Williams reported to 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines, where he served as Battalion Fire Support Officer for 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines and subsequently commanded Battery K, 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines. During this tour, he temporarily attached to 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade as Fires Effects Coordinator during BALTOPS 19. He then served as Director of the 10th Marines Artillery Training School.

Selected for graduate education, Lieutenant Colonel Williams attended the Naval Postgraduate School, earning a Master of Science in Space Systems with honors.

From June 2022 to June 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Williams served as the I Marine Expeditionary Force Space Operations Officer, where he led operational testing of Marine Corps Force Design initiatives and integrated Joint personnel and capabilities within I MEF, achieving Joint Task Force certification and advancing I MEF's ability to integrate space and electromagnetic spectrum operations into multi-domain fires and effects.

In June 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Williams reported to 5th ANGLICO in Okinawa, Japan, as Operations Officer, supporting Joint Training Teams across the region. He subsequently served as Targeting Department Head, III MEF G-39, where he led the development and implementation of targeting strategies aligned with III MEF's strategic objectives, oversaw implementation of the All Domain Operations Center, and supported a successful Joint Task Force certification for III MEF.

Selected for command, Lieutenant Colonel Williams assumed duties as Inspector-Instructor, 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company in June 2026.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
