Colonel George D. Kinter, a native of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, graduated from Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and was commissioned in the Marine Corps.
As a company grade officer, he served in various billets with 2d Battalion, 11th Marines, including Forward Observer, Headquarters Platoon Commander, and Fire Direction Officer, deploying with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). After transferring to the Intelligence occupational specialty, he commanded the All-Source Fusion Platoon in 2d Intelligence Battalion and deployed to Al Anbar, Iraq, in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
Transitioning to the Reserve Component, Colonel Kinter mobilized with the Marine Corps Support Battalion at Fort Meade as a Liaison Officer to the ISR Task Force. He was assessed into the Active Reserve (AR) program in 2012.
As a field grade officer, his assignments have included deploying as the Officer in Charge of the Cryptologic Support Group for Regional Command - East in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM. With II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF), he deployed as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G-2 for II MEF (Forward) to Regional Command - Southwest. His subsequent assignments included Intel Support to Plans, Intel Systems Officer, the II MEF Reserve Integration Officer, Future Operations Officer at Marine Forces Reserve, Reserve Liaison Officer at Marine Forces Europe and Africa, and Senior Reserve Integration Officer with II MEF, which included support to two rotations as the Officer in Charge for Task Force 61/2 in Naples, Italy. Colonel Kinter assumed command of Deployment Processing Command / Reserve Support Unit – East in August of 2026.
Colonel Kinter’s formal military education includes The Basic School, the Field Artillery Officers Basic Course, the MAGTF Intelligence Officers Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College. He also holds a Master of Science in Military Studies from the Marine Corps University and a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
