Lieutenant Colonel Gibson is a native of Tucson, Arizona and was raised in Orlando, Florida. He commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in May 2010 through the NROTC program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a master's degree from the School of Advanced Military Studies.
Following The Basic School and Military Police Basic Officer Leader Course, he reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373 and served as a platoon commander. While station in California he participated in the activation of 1st Law Enforcement Battalion (LE Bn) where he served as a Company Executive Officer. From 2012 - 2013 Lieutenant Colonel Gibson deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as an advisor to the 215th Afghan National Army Corps (ANA) located in Helmand Province. Following his tour at 1st LE Bn, Lieutenant Colonel Gibson reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego (MCRD SD) where he served from 2014 - 2017 as the installation Anti-Terrorism Officer, Series Commander for companies E and H, and Company Commander for Company G.
Following his tour at MCRD SD, Lieutenant Colonel Gibson attended Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS). After completing EWS, he reported to 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and deployed with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response-Central Command in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from 2018 - 2019. In 2020 Lieutenant Colonel Gibson reported to Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command (MAGTFTC) where he served as Law Enforcement Integration Officer for Marine Corps Logistics Operations Group, deputy Future Operations Officer, and Training Officer for Service Level Training Exercise Division of the G-3/5/7. Following his tour at MAGTFTC, Lieutenant Colonel Gibson attended the Advanced Military Studies Program (AMSP) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from 2023 - 2024. Upon graduating from AMSP, Lieutenant Colonel Gibson reported to II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) where he served in the G-5 and G-35 from 2024 - 2026.
Lieutenant Colonel Gibson reported for duty as the Inspector Instructor, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion in June 2026. Lieutenant Colonel Gibson's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd Award), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
