Captain Jesse A. Comer is a native of Oceanside, California. He was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps in 2017 and subsequently completed The Basic School, the Marine Artillery Officer Basic Course, and the Joint Fires Observer Course.
In 2018, Captain Comer reported to Battery I, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, where he served as the Fire Direction Officer, Guns Platoon Commander, and Company Fire Support Officer. In 2020, then-First Lieutenant Comer was assigned as the Fire Support Officer for Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, and deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In 2021, Captain Comer transitioned from active duty to the Marine Corps Reserve and reported to Headquarters Battery, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, where he served as the Battalion Fire Direction Officer. From September 2022 through March 2024, he served in the Individual Ready Reserve.
Upon returning to the Selected Marine Corps Reserve, Captain Comer reported to Battery I, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment. He served as the Battalion Fire Support Officer from March 2024 to April 2025 and as the Battery Executive Officer from April 2025 to July 2026. On July 30, 2026, Captain Comer assumed command of Battery M, 3d Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment.
Captain Comer’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
Captain Comer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles; a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin; and a Master of Science in Logic from the University of Amsterdam. In his civilian career, he is a doctoral candidate in Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
