Lieutenant Colonel Brewster is a native of Maryland and attended Norwich University, as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He studied history and graduated with a NROTC commission in 2006.
In 2007, 2ndLt Brewster reported for duty with 2d Battalion, 7th Marines and served as a Rifle Platoon Commander in Afghanistan in 2008. He then served as a Company Executive Officer in 2009. He transferred to 7th Marine Regiment in 2010 and commanded Headquarters Company. He deployed again to Afghanistan in 2011 as the Assistant Operations Officer for 3d Battalion, 4th Marines.
From 2012-2014, Capt Brewster worked as a Maneuver Experiment Project Officer at the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab (MCWL) in Quantico. From 2015-2016 he was the Aide-de-camp for MCWL’s Commanding General. During the 2016-2017 academic year he attended Expeditionary Warfare School and then served as a Platoon Commander at Officer Candidates School.
In 2017 he assumed command of Company K, 3d Battalion, 4th Marines in 29 Palms. In 2018 he led Kilo Company on a deployment to Iraq with SP-MAGTF Crisis Response in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.
In 2019, Major Brewster was selected for the Advanced Degree Program and began graduate school at Texas A&M University. From 2021 to 2023 he taught history and leadership at the US Naval Academy. In 2024 and 2025 he was the Executive Officer of 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune.
Lieutenant Colonel Brewster served as the Regimental Inspector – Instructor for 25th Marines at Fort Devens, MA in 2025 and 2026. He assumed responsibility as the Inspector – Instructor of 1st Battalion, 24th Marines in June 2026.
He is a graduate of the Marine Corps’ resident Expeditionary Warfare School and non-resident Command and Staff College. He holds a BA in history from Norwich University, a Master’s of Divinity from Liberty University, and a PhD in history from Texas A&M University.
