Sergeant Major George Zeek enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on February 27, 2006, and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduation, he reported to Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, followed by Military Police School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he earned the primary Military Occupational Specialty of 5811, Military Police.
In June 2007, Lance Corporal Zeek reported to Security Battalion, Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, where he served as a gate sentry and patrolman. In June 2009, he was reassigned to Military Police Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, 1st Marine Logistics Group, at Camp Pendleton, California. In April 2010, Corporal Zeek deployed with Combat Logistics Battalion 5 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 10.1 in Afghanistan. During the deployment, he served as a Squad Leader, Security Unit Leader, and Assistant Convoy Commander.
In August 2011, Corporal Zeek reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and deployed throughout the Pacific region. During this tour, he served as a Platoon Sergeant, Police Sergeant, and Military Police Liaison to the Master-at-Arms aboard USS Peleliu.
In August 2013, Sergeant Zeek reported to Security and Emergency Services Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and Watch Supervisor. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2015.
In April 2016, Staff Sergeant Zeek reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. Upon graduating in June 2016, he was assigned to Company H, 2d Recruit Training Battalion, where he served as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. In January 2019, he transferred to Company E, where he served as a Chief Drill Instructor. During this tour, he earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Columbia College. In June 2019, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant and completed his special duty assignment.
In July 2019, Gunnery Sergeant Zeek reported to Security and Emergency Services Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations East, where he served as the Special Reaction Team Commander for Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. In May 2020, he assumed duties as the Company Gunnery Sergeant.
In March 2022, Gunnery Sergeant Zeek was screened and selected to serve as a Faculty Advisor at the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Camp Lejeune, where he instructed at both Sergeants School and Advanced School. In November 2022, he was selected for promotion to First Sergeant. The following month, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston.
In July 2023, First Sergeant Zeek reported to 8th Communication Battalion, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for both Company C and Defense Cyber Operations–Internal Defensive Measures (DCO-IDM). In September 2023, he was assigned to the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Command Element. He deployed in June 2024 to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea as part of a crisis response force. In July 2024, he earned a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston.
Upon completing his tour with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, First Sergeant Zeek returned to 8th Communication Battalion, where he served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Company C and Service Company.
In November 2025, First Sergeant Zeek was selected for promotion to Sergeant Major and received orders to 4th Maintenance Battalion in Charlotte, North Carolina. In August 2026, Sergeant Major Zeek reported to 4th Maintenance Battalion, where he currently serves.
Sergeant Major Zeek’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one silver star in lieu of the sixth award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation, and the Drill Instructor Ribbon.
