Lieutenant Colonel Workman is a native of Bethesda, Maryland to a Navy family from Falls Church, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history
from James Madison University in 2008 and commissioned from Officer Candidate Course in 2009.
After The Basic School and Logistics Officer Course, he reported to 3d Supply Battalion, 3d MLG. From April 2010 to August 2011 he served as the S-4 Officer
and participated in Operation TOMODACHI supporting humanitarian relief in mainland Japan.
After 3d Supply Battalion he reported to 2d Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment where he deployed to Musa Quala, Afghanistan in 2012 in support of Operation
ENDURING FREEDOM as the S-4A.
After returning from deployment, Lieutenant Colonel Workman was transferred to the 5th Marine Regiment to fill the 62 Area Facilities Officer billet followed by the Regimental Motor Transport Officer. Lieutenant Colonel Workman reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in July 2014 and assigned to Support Battalion as the S-4 Officer, and then Series Commander of both the Basic Marine Platoon and Female Readiness Platoon. In January 2015, He became a Series Commander in Alpha Company, and Company Commander in 1st Recruit Training Battalion. From May 2016 to June 2017 Lieutenant Colonel Workman was the Aide-de-Camp for MCRD Parris Island/Eastern Recruiting Region.
In June 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Workman reported to the Army Logistics University to attend the Logistics Captain's Career Course in Fort Lee, Virginia as a student. He graduated on the Commandant's List in November 2017.
Ordered to 2d Transportation Support Battalion in December 2017, Lieutenant Colonel Workman served as the Motor Transport Company Commander from January to September 2018. After graduating from Intermediate MAGTF Logistics Operations Course, he became the Battalion Operations Officer from October 2018 to June 2019, planning Exercise ARROW-19 in Norway and Finland, as well as Joint Exercise RESOLUTE SUN in the Chesapeake Bay Region. Lieutenant Colonel Workman then served as the Battalion Executive Officer from July 2019 to June 2020.
In July 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Workman reported to the Marine Detachment at Fort Leonard Wood and served as the Motor Transport Instruction Company Commander. During this tour, he was selected to attend Commanding General Staff College in Leavenworth, Kansas as a student where he received a Masters in Operational Studies.
Upon graduation, Lieutenant Colonel Workman was assigned to 3d Marine Logistics Group in Okinawa as the Future Operations Officer from July 2024 to September 2025. During this time he participated in FREEDOM BANNER 2025 in the Republic of Korea as the Arrival and Assembly Operations Group Officer in Charge of the USNS Dahl Maritime Prepositioning Force Operation. He transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment 37, where he served as the Regimental Executive Officer until May 2026 when he transferred to become the I-I for Combat Logistics Battalion 23.
Lieutenant Colonel Workman's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
