Biography

 

Major Maurice W. Kitchens Jr.
Assistant Inspector-Instructor
H&S Company, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment

Major Kitchens  was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in August 2011. He then reported to The Basic School where he completed the Basic Officer Course and the Infantry Officer Course (IOC). Upon completion of IOC, Major Kitchens reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in 2013 and was assigned to Company B, 3d Platoon.
 
While in B/1/6, he served as a Rifle Platoon Commander during a deployment with the 22d MEU where Bravo Company supported Operation Inherent Resolve at the Baghdad Embassy Compound. In 2015, upon his return from deployment, he was then assigned to 6th Marine Regiment as the Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer. In May 2016, Major Kitchens checked in to 4th Marine Corps District Recruiting Station Cleveland for duties as the Officer Selection Officer of Officer Selection Team Kent. Following his OSO tour of duty, Major Kitchens reported to the Army's Maneuver Captain's Career Course in July of 2019. 
 
Upon graduation, Major Kitchens immediately reported to 2d Battalion 8th Marines and joined the Battalion on the 26th MEU where he assumed command of Company G. Here Major Kitchens led Company G through offshore training in Saudi Arabia. Major Kitchens relinquished command of Company G in September 2020 and was reassigned within the Battalion as the Assistant Operations Officer. In this capacity, he participated in planning and execution of two Battalion Field Exercises and one Regimental Field Exercise. 
 
On 25 May, 2021, following his tour at 2d Battalion 8th Marines, Major Kitchens reported to Weapons Company 3d Battalion 25th Marines as the Inspector Instructor.
