Sergeant Major Ronnie E. Ellis
Inspector Instructor Sergeant Major, 25th Marine Regiment

SgtMaj Ellis is a Gibson, Ga native born 18 Oct 1976.  After graduating from Glasscock County Consolidated High School, SgtMaj Ellis enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  He attended recruit training at 3D Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.

Upon completion of basic training, SgtMaj Ellis attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC and Motor Transportation Operators Course at Camp Johnson, NC. 

Apr 1996 SgtMaj Ellis served as a Forward Observer with 2D Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, Camp Lejeune, NC.  During this tour he deployed with the 24th MEU and was promoted to the ranks of Private First Class, Lance Corporal (meritoriously), and Corporal.

Jan 1998 SgtMaj Ellis served in the billets of Watch Stander, Assistant Detachment Commander, and Detachment Commander for Marine Security Guard Detachment’s Manama, Bahrain and New Delhi, India.  During this tour he was promoted to the ranks of Sergeant, and Staff Sergeant (meritoriously).

SgtMaj Ellis was transferred Jul 2001 and assigned to Marine Detachment Fort Leonard Wood, MO serving as Staff Noncommissioned Officer in-charge of Semi-Refueler Operator Course and Vehicle Recovery Course.

In Apr 2004 SgtMaj Ellis reported to Drill Instructor School where after graduating, served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Gunnery Sergeant for Kilo Company, 3D Recruit Training Battalion and Instructor at Drill Instructor School, Parris Island, SC.  During this tour he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

After drill instructor duty SgtMaj Ellis served as Company First Sergeant for General Support Motor Transportation Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 2; Security Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 2, where he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom; Battery G, 2D Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment; I-I First Sergeant for Company B, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, Atlanta, GA; and Company G, 2D Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Special Operations Command where he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was promoted to his current rank of Sergeant Major.

SgtMaj Ellis served as Battalion Sergeant Major for 2D Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 25 before being transferred to Parris Island, SC in Nov 2015 where he served as Battalion Sergeant Major for the 3D Recruit Training Battalion, Support Battalion, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, and currently serves as Inspector-Instructor Sergeant Major for 25th Marine Regiment.

Personal Decorations:  Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
