Colonel Stanton Chambers is a native of a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps upon completing his undergraduate studies at Kent State University in December 1991.
In April 1993 after graduating from The Basic School and the Artillery Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 10th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this tour, Lieutenant Chambers served as a forward observer, cannon platoon commander, battery executive officer and battalion liaison officer.
In March 1996 First Lieutenant Chambers reported for duty as the Officer Selection Officer, Orange County, California. In August 1999 Captain Chambers transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve.
In September 2000 Captain Chambers joined the Selected Marine Corps Reserves and reported for duty with 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines in Grand Prairie, Texas. Over the subsequent 11 years, he served as a: assistant battalion liaison officer, battery executive officer, battery commander, battalion executive officer and battalion commander. In May 2005 Major Chambers deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment as the Information Operations Officer and interim Executive Officer.
In September 2011 Lieutenant Colonel Chambers reported for duty as the Executive Officer, 14th Marine Regiment in Fort Worth, Texas. In July 2012 he reported for duty as a resident student at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
In June 2013, Lieutenant Colonel Chambers reported for duty as the J-3 Land Operations Officer with U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.
In March 2014 Colonel Chambers deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the OIC, MARCENT Coordination Element-Afghanistan. In December 2014 Colonel Chambers reported for duty with Reserve Affairs, HQMC where served as the first Reserve GCE officer monitor. In January 2018 he assumed his current billet as the Senior Advisor, 14th Marine Regiment.
Colonel Chambers' personal awards include: the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2nd award), the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award) and Combat Action Ribbon. In addition, he received the 2013 Army War College Foundation Jerry D. Cashion Writing Award.
Colonel Chambers' civilian education includes: BA, Kent State University (1991) MS, University of Cincinnati (2008) and MS, U.S. Army War College (2013).
Colonel Chambers joined the Dallas Police Department in 2001 where he currently serves as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) operator. He spent ten years as a counter sniper and entry team member. In October 2017 he became the first Dallas SWAT K-9 handler.
