Sergeant Major Shaun K. Betton
Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Marine Aviation Training Support Group 42

Sergeant Major Betton, a native of Beltsville, Maryland enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in June 1999. Underwent recruit training at Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion,  Parris Island, South Carolina.
 
In September 1999, Private First Class Betton completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina and subsequently transferred to Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland where he attended the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician Course and was assigned the MOS 1161 in late November 1999.
 
From December 1999 to December 2002, Private First Class Betton held several billets within his MOS at Rations Company, Supply Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group (FSSG), 4th Marine Division, Washington, D.C. In January 2003, Corporal Betton was mobilized and activated to active duty in support of the Global War on Terrorism to 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was assigned to Supply Company, 2d Supply Battalion where he served as the Storage NCOIC in the Supply Management Unit. Upon completion of these orders, Corporal Betton returned to Rations Company Washington D.C. 
 
In July 2004, Sergeant Betton was mobilized, activated, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was attached to 1st Marine Division Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to Mortuary Affairs Detachment, 1st Supply Battalion, 1st FSSG where he served as Grave Registration Specialist MOS 9051 Squad Leader. Upon the completion of his orders in March 2005, Sergeant Betton returned to Rations Company Washington, D.C.
 
In August 2008, Staff Sergeant Betton was again mobilized, activated, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, second combat tour. He was attached to 1st Marine Division Camp Pendleton, California. He was assigned to Supply Company, 1st Supply Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group (MLG) where served as Air Distribution SNCOIC MOS 3112. In April 2009 upon completion of his tour, Staff Sergeant Betton returned to Rations Company Washington, D.C.
 
From April 2011 to October 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Betton held numerous leadership billets within Det-1 and Det-2 Supply Company, Supply Battalion, 4th MLG, Washington D.C. including Company Gunnery Sergeant and the Senior Enlisted Advisor. 
 
In November 2013, Gunnery Sergeant Betton received Active Duty Operational Support orders to Inspector-Instructor Staff Det-2 Supply Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451, 4th MLG,  Washington, D.C. where he served as Senior Enlisted Advisor. Upon completion of these orders in June 2014, Gunnery Sergeant Betton was subsequently transferred to Det-3 Supply Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451, 4th MLG, North Charleston, South Carolina where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor.  
 
From April 2015 to June 2020, First Sergeant Betton served as Company 1stSgt for both Maintenance Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 451, 4th MLG, Indianapolis, Indiana and Service Company, 6th Communication Battalion, Force Headquarters Group, Brooklyn, New York. 
 
From July 2020 and March 2023, Sergeant Major Betton served as the Battalion Sergeant Major for both 2d Battalion, 23d Marine Regiment, Pasadena, California and 3d Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, Brook Park, Ohio. In April 2023, Sergeant Major Betton was slated and currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Aviation Training Support Group-42, Fourth Marine Aircraft Wing Pensacola, Florida.  
 
Sergeant Major Betton's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with gold star in lieu of second award), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (with bronze star in lieu of second award). He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Maryland College Park.
