Biography

 

Sergeant Major James Patrick Beere
Sergeant Major, 4th Medical Battalion

Sergeant Major Beere is a resident of Oakland, California. He enlisted into the Marine Corps on 10 Nov. 1992 at the San Francisco Recruiting Office. Upon completion of recruit training, MCRD, San Diego, CA in November 1993, Private First Class Beere was assigned to Hawk Missile Operator School, Fort Bliss Texas.

 
In July 1994, Lance Corporal Beere was assigned to the 4th Light Anti- Aircraft Missile, 4th Marine Air Wing Hayward California where he was assigned to the Reconnaissance Selection Occupation Position Team. He was also an operator for the HAWK missile Launcher.

 
In 1998, Sgt. Beere reported to 23d Marines Headquarters Company in San Bruno Ca. He was assigned to the Special Target Acquisition Platoon from 1998-2000.
Sgt. Beere was then assigned to the Intelligence Section from 2000-2001.

 
In 2001, Sgt. Beere became a squad leader in the Scout Platoon.

 
In 2004, Sergeant Beere assigned to 1/23 Bravo Company Weapons Platoon as the Section Leader for the Assault Section. He deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005 for OIF. During this period Weapons Platoon was also attached to 2/7, 3rd LAR, and the US Army’s 2nd Infantry Division. Sergeant Beere fought in Fallujah during Operation “Phantom Fury” (November 2004), Hit (October 2004 / February 2005), Ramadi, Habbaniyah, Dulab and Haqlaniyah.

From 2005-2009, Sergeant Beere returned to HQCO 23D Marines and was assigned as the Platoon Sergeant of the Regimental Security Teams. During this time Sergeant Beere assisted the Naval Post Graduate School in counter improvised explosive device studies, instructed over 200 troops deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq in improvised explosive devices, Military Operations in Urban Terrain, infantry tactics, vehicle operations, and counter insurgency tactics.

In 2009 GySgt Beere became the Company Gunnery Sergeant for Headquarters Company 23D Marines.


In 2013 First Sergeant Beere received orders to remain at 23d Marines and become the First Sergeant for Headquarters Company 23D Marines.

 
In 2017 First Sergeant Beere reported to Marine Wing Communications Squadron 48, Detachment A (Forward) as the Detachment First Sergeant.

In June 2018 Sergeant Major Beere was assigned to 4th Medical Battalion as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

Sergeant Major Beere’s awards include the Bronze Star with combat “V”, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, (3) Navy Achievement Medals, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Outstanding Military Volunteer Medal, (7) Select Marine Corps Reserve Medals, (3) Armed Forces Reserve Medals, Iraqi Campaign Medal, (2) National Defense Medals, (2) Combat Action Ribbons, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Artic Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. He has also received the John Basilone award for Courage, Commitment, and Leadership in combat.
