Biography

 

Captain Bruce K. Shelton
Commanding Officer
Military Police Company C

Captain Bruce Shelton is a native of Stephenville, Texas.  Midshipman Shelton reported to Officer Candidates School in May 2017 for Platoon Leaders Course-Seniors. Following graduation, Midshipman Shelton participated in Project Global Officer program where he trained critical language skills in Kyrgyzstan. Midshipman Shelton returned to Texas A&M University to complete his final year of college and upon graduation was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 11 May 2018. Second Lieutenant Shelton reported to The Basic School in August 2018 and graduated February 2019. 

In February 2019, Second Lieutenant Shelton executed orders to Military Police Company A, 1st Law Enforcement Battalion aboard Camp Pendelton to serve as a Platoon Commander. Second Lieutenant Shelton reported to Military Police Officer Basic Course in August 2019. He graduated in November 2019 and reported back to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion; there, he served as a Military Police Platoon Commander during exercise STEEL KNIGHT and Integrated Training Exercise in support of 5th Marine Regiment.  

Second Lieutenant Shelton graduated the Foreign Security Force Advisor Course in March 2020. In April 2020, he reported to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit to serve as the Military Police Detachment Officer in Charge. In May 2020, Second Lieutenant Shelton was promoted to First Lieutenant.  

In October 2020, First Lieutenant Shelton conducted WESTPAC-20 deployment with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During WESTPAC-20, First Lieutenant Shelton was attached to Joint Special Operations Task Force–Somalia and Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa in support of Operation OCTAVE QUARTZ. Additionally, he conducted foreign military advising in support of European Union Naval Force-Somalia and provost marshal operations in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska during exercise NORTHERN EDGE. 

Upon Return from WESTPAC-20 in May 2021, First Lieutenant Shelton executed orders to Command Element, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit where he served as Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer and Future Operations Officer in support of multiple exercise, to include exercise IRON FIST with the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force. In February 2022, he graduated from Civil Affairs Officer Course. In August 2022, First Lieutenant Shelton was promoted to Captain. Captain Shelton conducted end of active service on 30 November 2022.  

Captain Shelton conducted a direct affiliation to Select Marine Corps Reserve and reported to 1st Civil Affairs Group on 1 December 2022. In February 2023, Captain Shelton activated to the Republic of Korea in support of exercise FREEDOM SHIELD. In June 2023, he graduated from Civil Military Operations Planner Course. 

In March 2025, Captain Shelton assumed command of Military Police Company C, 4th Law Enforcement Battalion in Dayton, Ohio. 

Captain Shelton’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.
