First Sergeant Edward I. Maich
Inspector-Instructor Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
Headquarters Company, 25th Marine Regiment

Edward I. Maich enlisted into the Marine Corps on 6 January 2009 and completed Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, California. Upon graduating from Marine Corps Recruit Training, Private Maich attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California where he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. He then went onto Marine Corps Communication Electronic School at 29 Palms, California where he earned Honor Graduate and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal.

After graduating and earning the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 0612 Field Wireman, Lance Corporal Maich received orders to Marine Air Control Squadron 1, Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Arizona where he served from October 2009 to June 2010.

In June 2010, Corporal Maich was assigned to Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 4 where he served as the Squadron Wire Chief and was trained and certified as a Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor (MAI) and Martial Arts Instructor Trainer (MAIT) earning the additional MOS's 0916 and 0917. He was promoted to Sergeant in February 2012.

In October 2012, Sergeant Maich conducted a lateral move into the 0241 Imagery Analysis MOS, attending on-the-job training at Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One while awaiting training. In January 2013, Sergeant Maich attended the Tactical Imagery Analysis course located in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, graduating in the top five percent.

Shortly after, in June 2013, Sergeant Maich was assigned to 3rd Intelligence Battalion, Okinawa, Japan. In October 2013, Sergeant Maich conducted an individual augment to III Marine Expeditionary Brigade and deployed to the Philippines in response to Typhoon Haiyan during Operation Damayan, where he served as an Imagery Analyst. In November 2013, Sergeant Maich returned to 3rd Intelligence Battalion where he continued to serve as an Imagery Analyst and Battalion MAIT.

In February 2014, Sergeant Maich was assignment to 3rd Marine Division G-2 where he served as the Imagery Chief and Division MAIT. During this time, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and earned his second degree as a MAIT.

In July 2016, Staff Sergeant Maich attended the Basic Recruiter course located at MCRD, San Diego, California. Upon graduating, Staff Sergeant Maich was assigned to Recruiting Station (RS) Portsmouth, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Staff Sergeant Maich served as a Canvasing Recruiter at Recruiting Sub-Station (RSS) Nashua, New Hampshire between October 2016 and February 2018.

In March of 2018, Staff Sergeant Maich was selected as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) for RSS North Boston, Saugus, Massachusetts and was meritoriously promoted to Gunnery Sergeant. During his time as the SNCOIC, his station was awarded RSS of the Month four times, RSS of the 2nd and 3rd quarter Fiscal Year 2018, and RSS of the Year 2018.

In October of 2019, after a successful tour on Recruiting Duty, Gunnery Sergeant Maich was assigned to 1st Radio Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California where he served under Charlie Company's Virtual Signals Intelligence Operations Center (VSOC). During this time, Gunnery Sergeant Maich served as the Geospatial Intelligence Chief, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Chief MAIT, and Equal Opportunity Representative (EOR).

In August 2020, Gunnery Sergeant Maich conducted an individual augment with 1st Intelligence Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California and deployed with the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command 21.1 Command Element where he served as the S-2 Chief, Geospatial Intelligence Chief, Security Chief, Command Element (CE) MAIT, and CE EOR. During this time, Gunnery Sergeant Maich conducted operations in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq, supporting both Non-combatant Evacuation Operations and operations in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

In October 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Maich returned to 1st Radio Battalion where he continued to serve at VSOC in his former billets.

In January 2023, he received Temporary Additional Duty orders to I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California where he served as Inspector General (IG) Chief, IG Budget Officer, and IG Responsible Officer.

In January 2024, Gunnery Sergeant Maich was assigned to 1st Intelligence Battalion, serving under Battlespace Surveillance Company. During this time, Gunnery Sergeant Maich held the billets of Company Gunnery Sergeant, 1st Intelligence Battalion MCMAP Functional Area Manager, Chief MAIT, UMAPIT Master Trainer, and Unit Transition Coordinator.

In September 2024, Gunnery Sergeant Maich attained his Associate in Science in Liberal Arts degree with honors.

In November 2024, Gunnery Sergeant Maich was selected to the rank of First Sergeant and was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 5, where he served as the Combat Logistics Company Alpha and Headquarters Company First Sergeant.

In October 2025, First Sergeant Maich was assigned to 25th Marine Regiment as the Headquarters Company Inspector & Instructor First Sergeant, where he currently serves.

First Sergeant Maich's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Gold Star in lieu of fourth award.
