Lieutenant Colonel Eric L. Jones

Lieutenant Colonel Jones is a native of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He served as an enlisted Marine from June 1998 to November 2007 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He commissioned via the Enlisted Commissioning Program in November 2007. 

Command assignments include Guns Platoon Commander, Battery K, 3rd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment; Battery Commander, Battery H, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment; Inspector Instructor/Site Commander, Marine Wing Support Squadron 471 Detachment B, Marine Aircraft Group 41; Officer in Charge, Prior Service Recruiting Station 8, 8th Marine Corps District. 

Staff assignments include INDOPACOM and NORTHCOM operational planner, Current Operations Officer, Force Management Officer, and Force Deployment Officer, Marine Forces Reserve G-3/5; Exercise and Plans Officer and Deputy, Assistant Chief of Staff G-3/5, Force Headquarters Group G-3/5; Deputy Director, Joint Training and Exercise Branch, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Education and Training. 

He has deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM; Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (Afghanistan); and Okinawa, Japan in support of the Unit Deployment Program.   

He is a graduate of The Basic School, Field Artillery Basic Officer Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Logistics Officer Course, Air Command and Staff College, and Joint and Combined Warfighting School (JPME II). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business from Bryan College and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science with a Cyber Specialization from Air University. 

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
