Sergeant Major Carlos J. Moreira currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 4th Combat Engineer Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, located in Baltimore, Maryland. He is responsible for advising the Commanding Officer on all matters affecting the enlisted force across seven companies in six separate locations.
Sergeant Major Moreira is a native of Ecuador and was raised in New York. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July 1999 and reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina, for recruit training in January 2000. Upon graduation, he completed Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, followed by Military Occupational Specialty training at Marine Corps Detachment Fort Lee, Virginia, as a 3361 Subsistence Supply Clerk. He graduated in July 2000 and was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class.
Throughout his career, Sergeant Major Moreira has served in a wide variety of leadership and technical billets, including Store Room Manager, Subsistence NCOIC, Marine Corps Food Management Information Systems Chief, Food Service Chief, Mess Hall Liaison and Manager, Quality Assurance Evaluator, Assistant Contracting Officer Representative, Rations Chief, Supply Chief, Platoon Sergeant, Senior Drill Instructor, Company Operations Chief, Acting Platoon Commander, Regimental Assistant Operations Chief, Regimental Training Chief, Logistics and Operations Chief, Future Operations Chief, Command Financial Specialist, Lean Six Sigma Continuous Process Improvement Instructor, Motor Transport Operations Security SNCOIC, Career Planner, Company Gunnery Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Sergeant Major.

·August 2000: 1st Force Service Support Group, Headquarters and Service Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California; TAD to Brigade Service Support Group-31, Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, California, in support of Operation Steel Knight, Fire Exercise, and CAX.
January 2003: Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Iwakuni, Japan; participated in operations in Australia, Korea, and the Philippines.
June 2004: Headquarters and Service Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.
September 2007: Supply Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, Okinawa, Japan; TAD to Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, deploying to Thailand, the Philippines, China, and Burma.
June 2008: Drill Instructor School, Class 4-08, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina; subsequently assigned to Quebec Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, and later to Support Battalion, Special Training Company, serving as Senior Drill Instructor for the Evaluation Holding Platoon, Physical Conditioning Platoon, and Medical Holding Platoon.
November 2009: Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion.
June 2012: Headquarters Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton, California.
January 2014: Deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with Combat Logistics Battalion 7; served as Director of Logistics and Operations and Liaison Officer to Regional Command Southwest at Camp Dwyer.

Sergeant Major Moreira attended the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance, a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance, and a Master of Business Administration, all with honors.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
