Lieutenant Colonel Norman L. Renfro

Lieutenant Colonel (LtCol) Norm Renfro is a Texas native.  In 2008, he commissioned as a second lieutenant and attended The Basic School and the Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Virginia. 

LtCol Renfro’s first assignment was with Easy Company, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines, where he served as a rifle platoon commander in Garmsir, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 2009-2010.  In 2011, he served as Company Executive Officer and deployed with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit in support of Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR. 

In 2012, LtCol Renfro joined the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment in Norfolk, Virginia.  In Security Forces, he led a Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST) in Charlie FAST Company.   He deployed his FAST platoon to support security missions in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; and to serve as a reactionary force for NAVCENT in Bahrain.  He later served as the Company Executive Officer while overseeing security missions for the nuclear defuel of the USS Enterprise and refuel of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carriers. 

In 2015, LtCol Renfro became the Commanding Officer for Golf Company, 2d Battalion, 8th Marines.  Deploying the company to Romania in support of the Black Sea Rotational Force.  Following company command in 2017, he reported to Quantico for a tour with Head Quarters Marine Corps, Manpower and Reserve Affairs.

At HQMC, LtCol Renfro served in the Manpower Management, Officer Assignments Branch (MMOA) as the Monitor for infantry lieutenants, captains, and Marine Gunners.  He also served as the Center Desk, overseeing the company grade monitors and synchronizing efforts in MMOA.  He then attended the Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University. 

In 2021, LtCol Renfro served as the Battalion Executive Officer for 1st Battalion, 3d Marines in Hawaii, deploying the battalion to Okinawa, Japan while also transitioning the battalion to become the Marine Corps’ first Littoral Combat Team. 

From 2022-2024, LtCol Renfro served as the Aide de Camp to the INDOPACOM Commander.  He departed for 1st Battalion, 23d Marines in June 2024. 

LtCol Renfro is a graduate of The Basic School (2008), Infantry Officer Course (2008), Maneuver Captains Career Course (2012), Marine Corps Command and Staff Distance Education Program (Distinguished Graduate, 2019), and Marine Corp Command and Staff College (2021).  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University (2005), and a Master of Military Studies from Marine Corps University (2021).

Lieutenant Colonel Renfro’s personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (w/ star), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat “V” (w/ star), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
