Alexander C. Abdelnour
Co. A, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion

Captain Alexander C. Abdelnour grew up in Virginia and was commissioned in 2014 after graduating from Pennsylvania State University. He was designated an Infantry Officer in 2016 and gained the additional Military Occupational Specialty of Light Armored Reconnaissance Officer in 2016.

Captain Abdelnour has served with 1ST Light Armored Reconnaissance

(LAR) Battalion, Battalion Landing Team 1/5, Joint Special Operations

Task Force-Arabian Peninsula (JSOTF-AP), United States Military Training Mission-Saudi Arabia, Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, and 4TH LAR. His key billets have been Platoon Commander, Ground Forces Advisor, Company Executive Officer, Infantry Advisor, Operations Officer, and Company Commander. Captain Abdelnour is a graduate of Winter Mountain Leader’s Course and the Marine Advisor Course.

He served as 3rd Platoon Commander, Company C, 1ST LAR from 2016 to 2017. He then deployed with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 as the Advisor Training Group Platoon Commander from July 2017 to February 2018. While deployed with the 15TH Marine Expeditionary Unit, Captain Abdelnour was attached to JSOTF-AP where he served as a Ground Forces Advisor to the Royal Saudi Land Forces in support of combat operations. He advised and assisted his Saudi counterparts on ground maneuver, civilian casualty/fratricide avoidance, and the implementation of supporting arms. From 2018 to summer 2019 he served as Headquarters and Service Company Executive Officer, 1ST LAR.

From June 2019 to June 2020 Captain Abdelnour served as an advisor to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces-Marine Forces in Saudi Arabia. As one of two U.S. Marines in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, Captain Abdelnour operated independently advising Saudi officers up to the rank of Major General. His duties spanned from advising at the Brigade and Battalion level, unit training management, pre-deployment training, train the trainer events, and advising Marine Forces Schools. Captain Abdelnour also facilitated U.S. Marine Forces Central Command bilateral training exercises and military to military exchanges fostering interoperability between U.S. and Saudi Forces.   

In his last active-duty assignment, he served with Marine Corps Security Forces Regiment, Training Company from June 2020 to September 2021. He served in the Company Operations Officer and Company Executive Officer billets concurrently.  The company trained approximately 1000 Marines per year to conduct strategic weapons security and to provide rapid response anti-terrorism security forces.

Captain Abdelnour direct affiliated into the reserves and checked into Company A, 4TH LAR in December 2021. He assumed command of the company in September 2022.
