Biography

 

Major Dylan C. Baker
Inspector-Instructor
Company C, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion

Maj Dylan Baker was raised in Parker, Colorado, and graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  In 2005 he was commissioned out of Officer Candidates Course and subsequently completed The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course.  In October of 2006 he was assigned to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines and served as Rifle Platoon Commander and Rifle Company Executive Officer.  During this time, he deployed to Ramadi, Iraq, and as part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

From April 2009 to April 2012, he was assigned to the School of Infantry-West.  For the first two years he served as both a Company Executive Officer and Company Commander at Infantry Training Battalion, and the third year he served as Officer In Charge of a Mobile Training Team at Mobilization Training Battalion. 

Prior to reporting to 2d Battalion, 8th Marines in October of 2012, he attended Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He served as a Company Commander with deployments to FOB Dwyer, Afghanistan, and to Mihail Kogalniceanu, Romania in support of the Black Sea Rotational Force.  Additionally, he served as the Operations Officer for the Georgian Liaison Team with and deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan.

In August of 2017, he reported to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Bangor, Washington, where he served as a Company Commander, and completed the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program. In August of 2020, Major Baker was assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for Company F, 2d Battalion, 24th Marines, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Major Baker is currently assigned as the Inspector-Instructor for Company C, 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and the Combat Action Ribbon.
