Biography

 

First Sergeant Tyron D. George
Unit Senior Enlisted Leader
4th Reconnaissance Battalion

First Sergeant Tyron D. George is a native of Fort Polk, Louisiana.  Gunnery Sergeant George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2008 and graduated recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina.  Following recruit training, Private First Class George reported to Marine Combat Training, School of Infantry East, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.  Upon completion in May 2008, Private First Class George attended Marine Corps Engineer School, Combat Engineer Instruction Course in Camp Lejeune, NC.  In August of 2008, Private First Class George reported to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Bridge Company, in Camp Lejeune, NC.
 
After being promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal, in May of 2009, Lance Corporal George deployed to Afghanistan with Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 8 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).  In June of 2009, he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.  In March of 2010, Corporal George received Temporary Assignment duty orders to CLB 26 and August of 2010, he deployed in support of the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).  In January of 2011, Corporal George detached from the 26th MEU and attached to 3rd Battalion 8th Marines in support of OEF.
 
In December of 2011, Corporal George received orders to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB), 1st Marine Division (MARDIV), in Camp Pendleton, CA, where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  In March of 2012, assigned the billet of a squad leader, Sergeant George attached to 2nd Battalion 5th Marines and again, deployed to Afghanistan in support of OEF.  In 2012, Sergeant George deployed to Afghanistan as a Reception, Staging, Onward, and Integration Instructor for all incoming military forces.  
 
In April 2015, Sergeant George reported to Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 172, Marine Aircraft Group (MAG) 36, 1st Marine Air Wing (MAW) , in Okinawa, Japan.  In March of 2016, Sergeant George deployed to the Philippines in support of Balikatan to lead a detachment of engineers and to establish and maintain guard force operations for a security detachment.  In August of 2016, Sergeant George deployed to New Zealand in support of Operation Joint Assault Signal Company Black in order to test military survivability doctrine and establish a relationship with the New Zealand Defense Force and their detachment of engineers.
 
In April of 2017, Sergeant George reported to MWSS 272, MAG 26, 2ND MAW, where he supported two iterations of Integrated Training Exercises and a Weapons and Tactics Instructors Course.  In October of 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant and assumed the responsibilities of Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of Combat Engineer Platoon.  
 
In June of 2019, Staff Sergeant George received orders to Drill Instructor School West, and upon graduation reported to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego as a Drill Instructor.  He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in April 2021. 
 
In August of 2022, Gunnery Sergeant George reported to 1st CEB, 1st MARDIV in Camp Pendleton, CA.  He was assigned the billet of Platoon Sergeant for Alpha Company 3rd Platoon.  In April of 2023, he deployed to Australia in support of Marine Rotational Forces Darwin.  In November of 2023, he took over as the First Sergeant for Charlie Company.  In August of 2024 he went to Mobility Assault Company, where he is served as the Operations Chief. Upon receiving orders to his current duty station, he was frocked to his current rank in April 2025
 
First Sergeant George reported to Company A, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion in May 2025, to serve as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader and Inspector & Instructor First Sergeant.
 
Gunnery Sergeant George's personal decorations include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
