Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Lavoie

Lieutenant Colonel Lavoie is a native of Reading, Massachusetts. He was commissioned into the Marine Corps on 15 May 2003 after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the Virginia Military Institute. He reported to The Basic School (TBS) in Quantico, VA in 2003 and was assigned to Delta Company in the Basic Officers Course (BOC). Upon completion of the BOC, Second Lieutenant Lavoie was assigned to Infantry Officer Course (IOC) Class 2-04.

Second Lieutenant Lavoie reported for duty with Second Battalion, Fifth Marine Regiment in April 2003 and was assigned to Echo Company as a Rifle Platoon Commander. While serving in Echo Company, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II as a Rifle Platoon Commander. In May of 2005, following deployment, he was assigned as a Company Executive Officer, and subsequently deployed in support of the 31st MEU in December 2006.

During deployment, he was re-assigned as the Company Commander. Upon returning from the 31st MEU, FirstLieutenant Lavoie was assigned to Headquarters and Services Company and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06.8.1 as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer.

Captain Lavoie reported to Marine Barracks Washington in November of 2007 and was assigned to Bravo Company as 3d Platoon Commander. Following one parade season, Captain Lavoie was assigned to Alpha Company as the Company Executive Officer. While at Marine Barracks Washington, Captain Lavoie received Orders to Maneuver Captains Career Course at Fort Benning, GA reporting in March and graduating in July of 2010.

Captain Lavoie reported to 3d Battalion, 9th Marines on 3 August 2010 and was assigned to Headquarters and Services Company as the Company Commander. While serving in Headquarters and Services Company, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Marjah, Afghanistan from Dec of 2010 until July of 2011. During this deployment Captain Lavoie assumed command of India Company. Upon returning from deployment, Captain Lavoie assumed command of Weapons Company and again deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Afghanistan from November of 2012 to May 2013.

Captain Lavoie reported to Naval Postgraduate School in August of 2013, as part of the Regional Affairs Officer Program, and graduated with distinction with a Masters of Arts degree in Security Studies in March of 2015. Upon graduation, Major Lavoie reported to United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command as a Regional Affairs Officer in April of 2015. He was assigned to the G5 Theater Security Cooperation Branch and served as the Arabian Peninsula Desk Officer.

Major Lavoie reported to 2d Battalion, 2d Marines as the Operations Officer in June 2018, serving in that capacity until May 2019. Following selection to lieutenant colonel, LtCol Lavoie reported to the 2d Marine Regiment Headquarters in June 2019 where he served as the Regimental Operations Officer until June 2021 when he reported to 2d Battalion, 25th Marines as the Inspector-Instructor.

His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and three gold stars in lieu of fourth award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
