Captain Jimmy Peraffan is a native of Queens, New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the U.S. Naval Academy. During his time at the Naval Academy, Capt Peraffan conducted a foreign exchange with the Portuguese Navy in Lisbon, Portugal. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 2018. Upon completion of The Basic School, he attended Infantry Officer Course and was subsequently assigned to 2nd Platoon, Company G, 2d Battalion, 4th Marines in Camp Pendleton, CA.
In June of 2020, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as a Rifle Platoon Commander in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Returning from deployment in November 2020, he was assigned as the Weapons Platoon Commander.
In February of 2021, he was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines as the Weapons Company Executive Officer. He attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Air Assault and Fires Integration Course in Yuma, AZ.
In October of 2021, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan as a Weapons Company Executive Officer in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. Returning from deployment in April of 2022, he was assigned as the Battalion Assistant Operations Officer.
In May of 2023, Capt Peraffan ended his active service, joined the USMCR, and in September of 2023 assumed the role of Commanding Officer of Weapons Company, 2d Battalion 25th Marines. From January to June of 2024, he served on active duty orders as the Deputy Inspector and Instructor while supporting operations planning for the battalion’s annual training. He continues to serve as the Weapons Company Commander at 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines while concurrently running a 501(c)(3) as the Executive Director.
