Sergeant Major Michael D. Grant

Sergeant Major Michael D Grant graduated high school in 1995.  He entered the United States Marine Corps and attended basic training later that same year.  In 1996 he graduated from the School of Infantry and reported to 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines in Fort Worth, Texas.  During this time, he worked with Embarkation Logistic, Food Service and served as a Platoon Sergeant.  

In 2004, he reported to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines where he served as a section leader in Al Quim, Iraq.  He returned to 2nd Battalion 14th Marines in 2005 where he served in several roles, to include: Platoon Sergeant, Embarkation Logistics Staff Non-Commissioned Officer, and Food Service Chief.  In 2008, SSgt Grant graduated with honors from Colorado Technical University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis on Project Management.  In 2010, Gunnery Sergeant Grant remained at 2nd Battalion 14th Marines where he served as the Battery Gunnery Sergeant until 2012.  He later served as the Embarkation Logistics Chief for Exercise African Lion for 14th Marine Regiment.  Upon completion, he returned to 2nd Battalion 14th Marines where he served as the Embarkation Logistics Chief.    

Gunnery Sergeant Grant graduated with honors from Colorado Technical University in 2013 with a master’s degree in operations management.  He then reported to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, San Antonio, Texas where he served as Embarkation Logistics Chief.  In 2014, he obtained his Level II certification from the National Institute of Certified Electrical Technicians (NICET).  In 2015, First Sergeant Grant reported to Anti-Tank Training Company 25th Marine Regiment in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma where he served as the Company First Sergeant.  In 2018 he reported to the Georgia Deployment Program – Resolute Support Mission where he severed as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Rotation 9 in Kristinitsi, Georgia. Upon return from deployment First Sergeant Grant reported to HQ Battery 2nd Battalion 14th Marines where he served as the Battery First Sergeant. 

Sergeant Major Grant deployed with 1st Battalion 23rd Marines in November 2021 to Ft Pickett Virgina in support of Operation Allies Welcome.  He returned in March 2022 to 1st Battalion 23rd Marines Home Training Center.  Sergeant Major Grant reported to 4th Reconnaissance Battalion June of 2023.  Shortly after he has slated for 3D CAG where he reports to in September 2023.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy, and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), as well as numerous service and unit awards.
